Alpesh Thakor, Member of the Legislative Assembly of Radhanpur and the Other Backward Class (OBC) leader in Gujarat, is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)
Alpesh was a former member of the Indian National Congress (INC.) He resigned from the Party on the 10th of April, a day ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
The Lok Sabha elections were held from the 11th of April and continued till the 19th of May. The results were announced on the 23rd of May.
Though Alpesh resigned the INC, he is still the MLA of Radhanpur as he was elected by the public of the Assembly constituency in 2017.
. The INC’s victory in Radhanpur was due to Alpesh and if he joins the BJP, it will be a major drawback for the INC in the upcoming Assembly elections of Gujarat.
The speculations of Alpesh’s joining the BJP came after his recent meeting with Nitin Patel, the Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat on the 27th of May.
When asked about the discussions during Alpesh’s meeting, he said, “I met the Deputy Chief Minister over water supply issues and the Education Minister to discuss the issues of schools in my constituency.”
Nitin Patel also said the same regarding an hour long meeting, he said, since Alpesh is the MLA of Radhanpur, he came to discuss the Narmada water issues. The meeting does not have any political agenda.
