A man sleeping on a footpath in Hyderabad was crushed to death by a car driven by an engineering student. The incident occured in Kushaiguda when a 19 year old student in a car with her three friends lost control. The police reported the girls in the car were in an inebriated state.
The car went over the road divider and crashed on to the footpath on the other side of the road. The victim was identified as K. Ashok, a 30 year old cobbler. The man was rushed to Gandhi Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The accident happened after midnight at the DAE Colony in Hyderabad’s Kushaiguda. The four students in the car are reported to be from a private engineering college in the city.
Witnesses who gathered after the accident stated the police were shielding the students. It has been revealed one of the girl’s in the car is the daughter of Malakpet Inspector Gangi Reddy.
The police stated a case was registered and an investigation was opened. They further reported the CCTV footage in the area was being scanned to see what actually happened. More news is awaited.
