Team India, with its outstanding performance, scored 336 runs and lost 5 wickets after 50 overs. Pakistan, on the other hand, managed to score 212 runs and had a loss of 6 wickets after 40 overs. The match was disrupted due to rain after Pakistan batted for 40 overs. Because of this, Team India won by 89 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method.

In this series of the ICC World Cup, this is the third victory of Team India.

India played a total of 3 matches so far and won all of them against South Africa, Australia and Pakistan on the 5th, the 9th and the 16th of June respectively.

Out of the four matches including the one against India, Team Pakistan won 1 match against England and lost the other three matches against West Indies, Australia and India.

Although Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl, India became the winner of the 22nd ODI match.

Rohit Sharma, a player of the Indian Cricket Team, was declared the Man of the Match as he scored 140 runs off 113 balls.

When asked about the reason behind his success, Rohit Sharma said, “It’s just the space I’m in right now; having a newly born daughter in my life has put me in a really good space. I am enjoying my cricket coming off from a great IPL campaign. Here we were focussed on starting well and I think as a team we are heading in the right direction (sic.)”

Virat Kohli, the Captain of the Indian Cricket Team, took to Twitter and congratulated his team members and all the fans who were cheering for Team India.

Twitter is also flooded with congratulatory messages and posts for this tremendous victory of Team India against Team Pakistan.
