Reacting to Pakistan’s claims about India coming up with a war plan, India, on the 7th of April, said the claims were preposterous, irresponsible and aimed at inducing war hysteria.

On the 7th of April, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said, India was planning a major attack on Pakistan between the 16th of April and the 20th of April.

Mr. Qureshi stated, ambassadors of the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council gave him information about the attack two days ago. Qureshi also said the aggression was aimed at increasing diplomatic pressure against Pakistan.

“I am saying it with responsibility and I have a responsible position, I know each word I say would make headlines in the international press,” said Quereshi, while reiterating the importance of his claims.

Denying the claims, Raveesh Kumar, the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, said, “India rejects the irresponsible and preposterous statement by the Foreign Minister of Pakistan with a clear objective of whipping up war hysteria in the region. This public gimmick appears to be a call to Pakistan based terrorists to undertake a terror attack in India.”

During the last couple of months, there has been friction between India and Pakistan. On the 26th of February, the Indian Air Force (IAF) carried out airstrikes on three base camps of the terrorist group Jaish e Mohammed (JeM,) in Balakot, two weeks after the Pulwama terror attack.

Reacting to the airstrikes, Pakistan shot down a MiG-21 in an aerial combat, as a result of which, an IAF pilot, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, was captured. However, the Pakistan Government sent Wg Cdr Varthaman back to India, on the 1st of March.

While the situation between India and Pakistan was calm for the last few weeks, these comments by Pakistan may increase the friction between the two Countries again.
