Three militants were killed, on the 10th of March, in an encounter between militants and security forces in Tral of Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir.
The deceased were identified as militants of the Jaish e Mohammed (JeM,) a Pakistan based terrorist group, which was also responsible for the Pulwama terror attack.
Though the identity of the deceased militants is yet to be ascertained, the security officials suspect one of the three JeM militants to be Mudasir Ahmed Khan.
The gunfight broke out between the militants and the security forces after the militants fired at the security forces during a search operation. The security forces launched a search operation based on the intelligence information about the militants hiding in the area.
A Jammu and Kashmir Police official said, “Based on a credible input about the presence of terrorists in Pinglish area of Tral Awantipora, a cordon and search operation was launched today jointly by police and security forces in the area.”
The gunfight lasted till midnight, on the 10th of March.
According to the security officials, two AK 47 rifles, a pistol and ammunition were also recovered from the encounter spot.
The security forces and the Army officials launched a search operation and cordoned off the area.
The citizens of the area are advised to maintain peace and security.
The police official said, “People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials if any.”
Although the gunfight between the militants and security officers is over, the search operation is still going on.
