The Jammu and Kashmir Police, on the 7th of March, confirmed, the grenade blast at a Jammu bus stand was carried out by the terrorist group, Hizbul Mujahideen (HM.)

M.K. Sinha, a police officer of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, said, “Yasir Javed Bhat, a resident of Khanpora Dassein village in Kulgam, was tasked by Hizbul Mujahideen district commander, Kulgam, Farooq Ahmad Bhat alias ‘Umar’ to carry out the attack.”

Ahmad Bhat, who allegedly came from Kulgam to Jammu and placed the grenade in a bus, was escaping the spot after the attack when the Nagrota police officials arrested him. The Nagrota officials, who were on high alert, arrested Bhat on the outskirts of the City.

Dilbagh Singh, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, confirmed the arrest and said, an interrogation is underway.

The grenade explosion took place, on the 7th of March, at the State Run Transport Corporation (SRTC) Bus Stand.

Two people were killed and approximately 32 were injured in the blast.

Satya Pal Malik, the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, directed the Jammu and Kashmir administration to provide the best medical treatment possible to the injured.

The deceased were identified as Mohammed Reyaz and Mohammad Sharik.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police are currently investigating the matter and interrogating Bhat.
