Born in October 2018, Ryusuke Sekiya is the world’s smallest baby boy, who is all set to go home after his doctor’s approval.

A doctor at Nagano Children’s Hospital in Central Japan delivered the baby through a Caesarean section. Ryusuke was delivered after a pregnancy of 24 weeks and 5 days. Toshiko, the mother of the baby boy, suffered from hypertension, following which, she had to undergo an emergency delivery.

Ryusuke was kept in a neonatal intensive care unit at the Nagano Children’s Hospital.

When born, Ryusuke was the world’s smallest and lightest baby with a weight of 258 grams.

As of the 19th of April, he is 13 times his previous weight, which was that of an apple.

Toshiko expressed her happiness and said, “When he was born, he was so small, and it seemed as if he would break with a touch. I was so worried. Now he drinks milk. We can give him a bath. I am happy that I can see him growing.”

Before the birth of Ryusuke, another baby boy from Japan was the smallest and lightest baby in the world with 268 grams of weight.

Ryusuke’s parents are happy as he will be discharged this weekend and will meet the world.

Stay tuned for further updates.
