Early this morning, nine coaches of the Kaifiyat Express derailed near Auraiya in Uttar Pradesh. Reports coming in have confirmed the incident resulted in 50 people being injured.

Officials from Uttar Pradesh have been sent to the location of the incident to help with the rescue and relief operations for the passengers.

General Manager of Nothern Central Railways, M.C. Chauhan reported that the injured people were immediately rushed to the hospital.

The train that was traveling from Azamgarh to Delhi rammed into a dumper at 2:50 A.M., between two railway stations, Pata and Achhalda.

The impact of the collision caused one of the bogies to overturn and a few of the compartments jumped the rails.

Railway Minister Suresh Babu put out a Tweet that read, “A dumper hit the locomotive of the Kaifiyat Express, resulting in derailment. Some passengers have received injuries and have been shifted to nearby hospitals.”

This is the second rail incident in just 5 days, on Saturday, the Utkal Express derailed at Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh that resulted in the death of 22 people and injured around 156 people.
