Two Indian National Congress (INC) workers were murdered, on the 17th of February, in Kasaragod district, Kerala.

The incident took place when, Kripesh (24) and Sarathlal Alias Joshi (29) were going back home, after attending an event. According to police, around 8:00 P.M., a few people came in a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV,) stopped Kripesh and Sarathlal, who were on a two wheeler, and hacked them to death.

Kripesh died on the spot, whereas Sarathlal was declared brought dead by a doctor at a hospital in Mangalore.

The United Democratic Front (UDF,) led by the INC, alleged the Communist Party of India (CPM) activists of being behind the attack.

The INC also called for a dawn to dusk strike, on the 18th of February, in Kerala, against the murder of the youths.

Mullapally Ramachandran, the President of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC,) said, “We cannot accept this, CM (Pinarayi Vijayan) should ask his people to keep weapons down. Only then peace will prevail in Kerala. CM should explain what was the fault of these youngsters, who were murdered. This was a planned murder and CPI(M) is responsible for it.”

However, M.V. Balakrishnan, the District Secretary of the CPM, denied all the allegations and said, they condemn the murder and did not play any role in it.

Rahul Gandhi, the President of the INC, took to Twitter and conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased youths.

The police registered a case and an investigation is underway.
