On the 6th of May, in the 5th phase of the Lok Sabha elections, a total of 7 states will contest 51 Parliamentary constituencies in India.

Divided into 7 phases, the Lok Sabha elections started from the 11th of April and will continue till the 19th of May 2019. The 7 phases of the Lok Sabha elections are scheduled on the 11th of April, 18th of April, 23rd of April, 29th of April, 6th of May, 12th of May and the 19th of May.

Out of the 7 phases, Indian states contested a total of 377 Lok Sabha seats in the 4 phases of the Lok Sabha elections. The 4 phases of the Lok Sabha elections took place on the 11th of April, the 18th of April, the 23rd of April and the 29th of April. The remaining phases are scheduled to be held on the 6th, 12th and 19th of May.

The states contesting the Lok Sabha elections in the 5th phase, scheduled on the 6th of May, are:

Bihar

Lok Sabha seats – 5
Constituencies – Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Saran, Hajipur (SC) and Sitamarhi
Major parties– The INC, the BJP, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Janata Dal (United) [JD(U.)]

Jammu and Kashmir

Lok Sabha seats – 2
Constituencies – Ladakh and Pulwama
Major Parties – The National Conference Party (NCP,) the INC and the BJP.

Jharkhand

Lok Sabha seats – 4
Constituencies – Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Khunti (ST) and Kodarma
Major Parties – The Janata Dal (United,) the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD,) the INC and the BJP.

Uttar Pradesh

Lok Sabha seats – 14
Constituencies – Banda, Lucknow, Barabanki (SC,) Mohanlalganj (SC,) Dhaurahra, Raebareli, Faizabad, Fatehpur, Gonda, Sitapur, Kaiserganj, Amethi, Kaushambhi (SC) and Bahraich (SC)
Major Parties – The INC, the BJP and the grand alliance of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP.)

West Bengal

Lok Sabha seats –7
Constituencies – Bangaon (SC,) Barrackpore, Hooghly, Howrah, Srerampur, Uluberia and Arambagh (SC)
Major Parties – The INC, the BJP and the Trinamool Congress (TMC.)

Madhya Pradesh

Lok Sabha seats – 7
Constituencies – Betul (ST,) Damoh, Rewa, Satna, Hoshangabad, Tikamgarh (SC) and Khajuraho
Major Parties – The INC and the BJP.

Rajasthan

Lok Sabha seats – 12
Constituencies – Bharatpur (SC,) Bikaner (SC,) Nagaur, Churu, Dausa (ST,) Ganganagar (SC,) Sikar, Jaipur, Jaipur Rural, Jhunjhunu, Alwar and Karauli–Dholpur (SC)
Major Parties – The INC and the BJP.

The Lok Sabha elections will begin polling from 7:00 A.M., and will continue till 6:00 P.M., in all the states across India.

The results for all the Lok Sabha constituencies will be declared on the 23rd of May.

The major parties competing to win the Lok Sabha elections and form the Government in India are the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)
