Amit Shah, the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) on the 23rd of April, addressed the media after casting his vote in the 3rd phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

Mr. Shah, who is the Member of Parliament candidate from the Gandhinagar constituency, Gujarat, appealed to all the voters to exercise their right to vote.

Mr. Shah took to Twitter and shared pictures of his constituency, where people are voting with enthusiasm.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi also cast his vote in Gujarat and asked the people to fulfill their responsibility of voting.

Mr. Modi also addressed the media and said, the power of a voter ID card is much more than terrorists’ Improvised Explosive Device (IED.)

Mr. Modi said, “Indian democracy presents an example before the world. While on the one hand, an IED is the weapon of terrorists, on the other, the voter ID [identity] is the weapon and power of democracy. I am confident that the power of voter ID is much more than the IED and we should understand the importance of the voter ID card and come out to vote in large numbers.”

Gujarat has contested a total of 26 seats in the 3rd phase of the Lok Sabha elections, on the 23rd of April.

The polling for the 3rd phase of the Lok Sabha elections is currently underway.

The Lok Sabha elections started on the 11th of April and will continue till the 19th of May.
The Lok Sabha elections are divided into 7 phases, scheduled on the 11th of April, 18th of April, 23rd of April, 29th of April, 6th of May, 12th of May and the 19th of May.

On the 11th of April and 18th of April, the Indian states contested a total of 188 seats in the 1st phase and the 2nd phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC.)

The results of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
