Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, on the 10th of May, said it is better the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) did not form an alliance with the Indian National Congress (INC.)

Mr. Kejriwal, on the 10th of May, addressed an interview, and said, “It would have amounted to having an alliance between the AAP and the BJP rather than the AAP and the Congress. The second option was to contest all seven seats and try to win them all. Now, it looks like the second option is better.”

The AAP was trying to form an alliance with the INC since the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections.

However, the INC refused to form the alliance, following which, the parties are now contesting independently against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)

During the interview, Kejriwal took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, the President of the BJP. He said, the Modi Government does not have any achievements to show to the people, hence they are criticising the Opposition and trying to gain votes.

The main reason cited behind forming an alliance with the INC was to prevent the BJP from coming to power in Delhi.

As many as 21 political parties, including the AAP, are against the BJP and want to dethrone the BJPr.

Delhi will contest a total of 7 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, scheduled on the 12th of May 2019.

The major parties contesting the Delhi Lok Sabha elections are the INC, the BJP and the AAP.

The results of the Delhi Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
