Actor turned politician Jaya Bachchan, on the 30th of April, campaigned for the grand alliance of the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) for the Lok Sabha elections.

Mrs. Bachchan addressed a public rally in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh and criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for creating chaos in the Country.

Jaya Bachchan, who is a member of the SP said, “At this point in time, the one who is responsible for protecting the nation is the one who is creating chaos and disorder.”

Mrs. Bachchan reached Lucknow to extend her support to Poonam Sinha, the Member of Parliament (MP) candidate of the BSP and the SP contesting in Lucknow.

Poonam Sinha, an actor turned politician and wife of Shatrughan Sinha, recently joined the SP and got a ticket to contest Parliamentary seat from Lucknow.

Mrs. Bachchan appealed voters to vote for Mrs. Sinha who has been Mrs. Bachchan’s good friend for 40 years.

Mrs. Bachchan said, “The enthusiasm and zeal what you are showing today, I want to see this zeal while voting. You all have to support our candidates who are contesting, with the same amount of enthusiasm and prove that Samajwadi workers are with them.”

Mrs. Poonam Sinha will contest against Rajnath Singh, the Home Minister of India and the MP candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)

On the other hand, the Indian National Congress nominated Acharya Pramod Krishnam to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

Uttar Pradesh will contest a total of 80 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, divided into 7 phases. Out of the 80 seats, the State contested a total of 28 seats on the 11th, 18th, the 23rd of April and the 29th of April in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th phases of the elections.

The polling for the remaining 39 seats will be conducted in 3 phases, scheduled on the 6th of May, 12th of May and the 19th of May 2019.

The major parties contesting the Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha elections are the INC, the BJP and the grand alliance of the BSP and the SP.

The results of the Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
