Annoyed over the delay in being given the possession of their flats, a group of buyers in Noida made a unique pledge to opt for None Of The Above (NOTA) in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Called the ‘No Home, No Drive’ campaign, the flat buyers registered the complaint with an umbrella organisation, the Noida Extension Flat Owners and Members Association (NEFOMA.)

“The flat buyers in Greater Noida West have not got the flats even after an assurance from the prime minister. (Uttar Pradesh) Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath constituted three ministerial committees but those also did not help. Hence our association has started today the ‘No Home, No Vote’ drive from Rudra Projects in Greater Noida,” said NEFOMA President, Annu Khan.

According to Annu Khan, the flat buyers were asking for this issue to be resolved since the last ten years. Despite taking their grievances to first the Samajwadi Party (SP,) then the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and finally, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) the problem remained unresolved.

“For years, the elected representatives have not come to resolve the flat buyers’’ problems and are now campaigning in residential societies just before the polls,” said an extremely agitated Khan in a statement.

Founded in the year 2010, the NEFOMA is said to have a network 20,000 to 25,000 buyers and with the NOTA pledge underway, the contesting parties stand to lose a large chunk of votes during the elections in Noida.

Members of the NEFOMA reached out to other buyers and builders in the area, in an attempt to spread the message to more people.

Voting in Noida is going to take place in the first phase of the Lok Sabha Elections, on the 11th of April. The Lok Sabha elections will last till the 19th of May and the results will be announced on the 23rd of May.

Stay tuned for more updates.
