Thirteen states and two union territories are conducting the 3rd phase of the Lok Sabha elections on the 23rd of April across India.

The states and union territories will contest a total of 117 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. The elections began at 7:00 A.M. and will continue till 6:00 P.M.

Approximately 1,640 candidates are in the fray to contest the 117 Lok Sabha seats in the 13 states and 2 union territories.

In all the Parliamentary constituencies, a total of 18.85 crore voters are eligible to vote in this phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The Election Commission of India (ECI) set up a total of 2.10 lakh polling stations across India in all the Parliamentary constituencies.


The State contesting the Lok Sabha elections in the 3rd phase are :

The elections in the Tripura East constituency in Tripura were scheduled to be held on the 18th of April, however, due to security failures, the ECI postponed the elections.

Tripura East in Tripura is conducting its elections in the 3rd phase of the Lok Sabha elections, on the 23rd of April.

The voter turnout in the Indian states till 10:00 A.M., was:

Goa: 12.64 %

Gujarat: 9.99 %

Jammu & Kashmir: 1.59 %

Karnataka: 7.42 %

Maharashtra: 6.41 %

Odisha: 7.15 %

Tripura: 5.83 %

Uttar Pradesh: 10.06 %

West Bengal: 16.85 %

Chhattisgarh: 12.58 %

Dadra & Nagar Haveli: 7.86 %

Daman & Diu: 9.93 %

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and appealed to the voters to exercise their franchise and vote.

 

The Lok Sabha elections are divided into 7 phases, scheduled on the 11th of April, 18th of April, 23rd of April, 29th of April, 6th of May, 12th of May and the 19th of May.

On the 11th of April and 18th of April, the Indian states contested a total of 188 seats in the 1st phase and the 2nd phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC.)

The results of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
