Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi will file his nominations, on the 26th of April, for the Lok Sabha elections.
Mr. Modi will submit his nomination papers as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) candidate contesting from the Varanasi constituency, Uttar Pradesh.
Mr. Modi has a stronghold in the Varanasi constituency. In 2014, PM Modi represented the BJP from Varanasi and won the Lok Sabha seat.
PM Modi, the current MP of Varanasi, is all set to fight against the Indian National Congress (INC) in the constituency. The INC did not announce the MP candidate contesting from Varanasi against PM Modi.
On the 25th of April, Mr. Modi will address a grand roadshow before filing his nomination papers in Varanasi the following day. He is scheduled to reach Varanasi on the 25th of April and conduct a meeting with Amit Shah, the President of the BJP, as well as other Party members.
The roadshow will begin from Lanka Gate of Benaras Hindu University and will cover approximately 150 places across the Constituency. The BJP members are working hard to ensure this roadshow a grand success.
Uttar Pradesh will contest a total of 80 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, divided into 7 phases. Out of the 80 seats, the State contested a total of 18 seats on the 11th and the 18th of April, in the 1st and 2nd phases of the elections. The polling for the remaining 62 seats will be conducted in 5 phases, scheduled on the 23rd of April, 29th of April, 6th of May, 12th of May and the 19th of May 2019.
The major parties contesting the Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha elections are the INC, the BJP and the grand alliance of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP.)
The results of the Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
