Priyanka Chaturvedi, the former Spokesperson of the Indian National Congress (INC,) on the 19th of April, joined the Shiv Sena.

Uddhav Thackeray, the President of the Shiv Sena, welcomed Ms. Chaturvedi to the Party. Ms. Chaturvedi expressed her happiness and said, “Happy that the Sena has taken me in as a family member. I am thankful to Uddhavji and Adityaji.”

Speaking about her decision of resigning the INC, Ms. Chaturvedi was upset with the Party’s decision of taking back a few INC leaders after firing them.

Recently, when Ms. Chaturvedi was addressing a press conference in Mathura, the said INC leaders misbehaved with her. She complained about the incident to Jyotiraditya Scindia, the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) of Uttar Pradesh West, took action and fired those leaders.

However, due to the pressure of the elections and the need for local support, Jyotiraditya Scindia allowed the alleged leaders to be a part of the INC again.

Mr. Thackeray addressed the media and said, “No need to introduce Priyankaji. She confidently defended her party. She thought that the Sena is best choice. I welcome you to the Sena family.”

Ms. Chaturvedi switching to the Shiv Sena during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections could be a major setback for the INC in Uttar Pradesh.
