Priyanka Chaturvedi, the Spokesperson of the Indian National Congress (INC,) on the 18th of April, quit the Party.

Disappointed with the INC, Ms. Chaturvedi took the decision and submitted her resignation letter to Rahul Gandhi, the President of the INC, on the night of the 18th of April.

In the resignation letter, Ms. Chaturvedi wrote, “In the last few weeks, certain things have convinced me that my services are not valued in the organization and I have reached the end of the road. At the same time, I also feel the more time I spend in the organization will be at the cost of my own self respect and dignity.”

Priyanka Chaturvedi, on the 17th of April, expressed her disappointment with the Indian National Congress and posted a tweet in this regard.

Ms. Chaturvedi took to Twitter and said, “Deeply saddened that lumpen goons get preference in @incindia over those who have given their sweat and blood. Having faced brickbats and abuse across the board for the party but yet those who threatened me within the party getting away with not even a rap on their knuckles is unfortunate.”

Ms. Chaturvedi resigned after the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee took back a few local INC leaders who misbehaved with Ms. Chaturvedi when she was addressing a press conference in Mathura. When she complained about the incident, Jyotiraditya Scindia, the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) of Uttar Pradesh West, took action and fired those leaders.

However, due to the pressure of the elections and the need for local support, Jyotiraditya Scindia allowed the alleged leaders to be a part of the INC again.

The news of Ms. Chaturvedi’s resignation came after it was noticed, her position, the “Spokesperson of the INC,” was missing from her Twitter handle bio.

After the resignation of Priyanka Chaturvedi, the Indian National Congress may face hurdles in the Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha elections. The Party garnered a lot of negative attention due to the incident and Ms. Chaturvedi’s Twitter post.
