Twitter, on the 17th of April, took down a controversial tweet by Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Yogi Adityanath referred to the Muslim League as a green virus and said, “Muslim League virus has yet again arrived and has divided the country.”

Twitter posted a tweet informing about removing Yogi’s controversial comments directed at Muslims. The post by Twitter said, “This tweet from @myogiadityanath has been withheld in India in response to a legal demand.”

The Election Commission of India issued a notice to Yogi Adityanath for his religious speeches and spreading religious hatred among the voters.

This is not the first time the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister made such remarks. He recently addressed a public rally in Uttar Pradesh and claimed, the Lok Sabha elections are a fight between Ali and Bajrangbali.

The ECI also banned Mr. Nath from conducting any campaign for 3 days in the Lok Sabha elections.

The Lok Sabha elections started from the 11th of April and will continue till the 19th of May 2019.

The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections are the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)

The results of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
