Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the 26th of June, addressed the Lok Sabha and replied to the Motion of Thanks delivered by Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India.

PM Modi started his reply by thanking the voters and citizens of India for supporting the PM Modi led the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Lok Sabha elections.

Mr. Modi said, “It is after a long time that a Government with a full majority was elected once again with a full majority. In this mandate, we see the desire of the people for stability. In fact, this trend of stable governments is being seen in various states too.”

In today’s session of the Lok Sabha, PM Modi spoke about the issue regarding faulty Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and said, the issue is nothing but a weapon being used by the opposition parties after suffering defeat in the elections.

Mr. Modi also spoke about his idea ‘One India, One Election’ and said, due to multiple elections, the Indian Government is losing manpower and has to incur unnecessary expenses for elections.

Mr. Modi, during his speech, also expressed grief regarding the death of children in Bihar due to AES and said, “The deaths in Bihar due to acute encephalitis syndrome are unfortunate and a matter of shame for us. We have to take this seriously. I am in constant touch with the State Government and I am sure we will collectively come out of this crisis soon.”

Mr. Modi also spoke about the Jammu and Kashmir issue and said, “I still believe had Sardar Patel been made the first Prime Minister of India, Kashmir issue would have been resolved. Sardar Patel lived and died as a Congressman. When we are paying tributes to the great leader, Congress has a problem.”

During the Monsoon Parliament session, there were also discussions major issues such as water scarcity, lack of rainwater harvesting and the Special Economic Zone (Amendment) Bill, 2019.

All the Members of Parliament (MPs) present at the Lok Sabha, representing individual parties, tabled the issues related to their respective states and discussed them.

The session of the 17th Lok Sabha started on the 17th of June and will continue till the 26th of July.
