Hyderabad’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been in the midst of a major drug bust in the city for the past few weeks. After a thorough investigation, it was found that the drugs were brought by courier from other countries.
The SIT has summoned three huge courier companies that have been linked to the case.
A statement released by the investigation team on Wednesday revealed that DHL, Blue Dart and FedEx have been asked to come in front of the SIT for questioning regarding the case.
The officials have also sent a letter to the Chief Post Master General asking him for his support in the investigation.
The SIT will be investigating how the courier companies managed to oversee the continuous delivery of drugs through their company.
The SIT arrested 13 people involved in peddling, the accused confessed that they were receiving the drugs via courier from U.S.A., Netherlands, Germany and Britain.
The investigators have sent strict notices to all the courier companies and the companies’ representatives will be required to justify their negligence.
The drug racket revealed the horrifying truth of students as young as 13 were involved in consuming high end drugs like LSD and MDMA. Nearly 1,000 students from elite schools and engineering colleges in the city were purchasing drugs from these peddlers.
The SIT has also said there was a possibility of 12 Tollywood personalities being part of the trade. But the investigation team is probing further and are unsure of the celebrities role in the drug racket.
