The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD,) on the 17th of June, extended the warning regarding the intense heatwave in Telangana till the 19th of June.
The IMD issued a statement which read, “Severe heat wave conditions were very likely to prevail at isolated pockets and heat wave conditions very likely to prevail at some parts over Telangana.”
The monsoon, which was expected to hit Telangana by the 13th of June, is expected to be delayed in the region till the 20th of June.
According to the IMD, on the 20th of June, the southwest monsoon will hit the State.
An official of the IMD said, “Now, the southwest monsoon has revived and it is moving and advancing, that’s why we are expecting the monsoon to hit Telangana around the 20th of June.”
According to sources, due to the low pressure area over the Arabian Sea which developed into Cyclone Vayu, the monsoon is delayed in the State.
In the last few days, Telangana was no less than a desert due to the scorching heat.
Approximately 40 people lost their lives due to heat strokes, as the temperature crossed 44.8 degree Celsius.
According to the IMD reports, Telangana will experience 96 % rain this monsoon.
