Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, on the 26th of February, termed the Indian Air Force (IAF) strike as ‘aggression’ and said, Pakistan now holds all the right to respond.

Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, on the 26th of February, called for an emergency meeting at the Foreign Office (FO) to discuss the situation after the IAF strike.

The strike was conducted as a response to the Pulwama terror attack, which took place on the 14th of February. During the strike, the IAF pilots dropped 1000 kg of laser guided bombs and killed approximately 300 Jaish e Mohammad (JeM) terrorists near the Balakot JeM training camp.

Mr. Qureshi addressed the media after the meeting and said, “First, they committed an aggression against Pakistan today. It is a violation of the LoC (Line of Control.) I consider it a violation of the LoC, and Pakistan has the right to give a suitable response in self defence (sic.)”

Sherry Rehman, the President of the Pakistan People Party, deemed the strike as a stunt by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure the latter’s victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Ms. Rehman said, “Obvious that (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi’s election war drums make prospects for talks collateral damage. India’s ruling party sees no other way to win the elections hence, itching for war.”

Imran Khan is expected to conduct a special meeting with the National Command Authority (NCA,) on the 27th of February.
