PM Modi Breaks His Silence About The Kathua and Unnao Rape Cases

Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi finally broke his silence about the horrific rape cases in Kathua and Unnao. Speaking at the inauguration of the Ambedkar Memorial in New Delhi, Modi said no culprit would be spared.

This statement comes after outrage from opposition parties and the media over PM Modi’s silence.

Modi was quoted saying, “I want to assure the country that no culprit will be spared, complete justice will be done. Our daughters will definitely get justice.”

The BJP is under a lot of scrutiny after it seemed the party was supporting the wrong side. In the Unnao case, a teenage girl was raped by a BJP lawmaker last year and the accused was arrested just last night. The case was taken seriously only after the girl attempted suicide outside UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s house.

The Adityanath Government has been accused of shielding the BJP lawmaker Kuldeep Singh Sengar. The Government under pressure from the Allahabad High Court pushed the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI.) Yesterday, the CBI detained Sengar and later arrested him.

On the other hand, the case in Kathau relates to an 8 year old Muslim girl who was brutally gang raped and murdered by a fringe Hindu group in Jammu and Kashmir. This attack was done to scare the 8 year old’s Muslim nomadic community.
