The nine Ministers who were sworn in include, Manohar Azgaonkar, Rohan Khaunte, Govind Gaude, Vinod Palienkar, Jayesh Salgaonkar, Mauvin Godinho, Vishwajit Rane, Milind Naik and Nilesh Cabral.

The decision to make Pramod Sawant the next CM of Goa after the demise of Manohar Parrikar, the former CM of Goa, was taken by the BJP.

Manohar Parrikar passed away, on the 17th of March, due to pancreatic cancer.

The BJP, after the funeral ceremony of Mr. Parrikar, held a meeting and presented Pramod Sawant’s name as the next CM of Goa. Though the Indian National Congress (INC) rejected the proposal and claimed to hold the power and form a Government in Goa, Mridula Sinha, the Governor of Goa, gave a chance to the BJP.

The BJP formed a government in Goa by electing Pramod Sawant.

Pramod Sawant expressed his happiness and said, “Parrikar is not amongst us now and the responsibility has been given collectively to me by my party, alliance partners and independent MLAs. This is a big responsibility. Manohar Parrikar was a visionary leader and he had carried out a great body of work for the State.”

Politicians and BJP leaders took to Twitter and congratulated Pramod Sawant for his new position as the Chief Minister of Goa.
