Rajya Sabha Elections: Voting In 7 States Have Begun

The voting for the Rajya Sabha elections in 7 states begun this morning. The Upper House Polls will fill 26 seats that have fallen vacant. There were more seats vacant but 33 candidates won unopposed.  

BJP is expected to gain more than 10 seats in this election. But even this increase will not give BJP the required majority in the House. In Uttar Pradesh, 10 seats are up for grabs. Everyone is looking forward to this as it will be a battle between the BJP and the Samajwadi Party allied with Mayawati’s BSP.  

The voting in 7 states will be held from 9 A.M., to 4 P.M. The Samajwadi Party is likely to win one seat among the 10 in Uttar Pradesh. While the BJP has 8 of its own candidates and supporting the ninth. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is contesting for one of the seats in Uttar Pradesh which he will win.  

In West Bengal, there are five seats with six candidates contesting. All India Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee put four candidates and vowed to support one Congress candidate.  

Jharkhand has two seats vacant with three candidates, the Congress nominated one and the BJP have two. In Karnataka, there are four seats vacant with three Congress nominations. Congress is likely to win two seats while the BJP will one seat.   

The Telangana elections are predictable with three seats vacant and the TRS nominated three candidates while the Congress has one candidate.
