Rescue Operation to Save 250 Stranded People in North Gujarat

Gujarat has been experiencing heavy rains in the northern region of the state.

Nearly, 8,000 people have been evacuated from Banaskantha and Patan districts due to flooding. At present, NDRF, BSF and Air Force have been deployed to save nearly 250 stranded people.

One of the rescue missions by the Air Force was a success in saying the life of a woman and her newly born twins and a pregnant lady. The Air Force rescued the women from Nana Matra village in Vinchia tehsil in Rajkot district.

At a release, Defense spokesperson Abhishek Matiman reported that the call for help came at 4:30 P.M., to rescue a pregnant woman in labor. A Chetak Helicopter was immediately sent at 4:40 P.M., from Jamnagar.

On their way to Nana Matra village, the officials sent a message to rescue another woman who had already delivered twins.

The statement read, “By 5:15 P.M. the Chetak was already overhead looking for a safe patch to land. The mother, with her new born twins and an attendant were instantaneously put into the aircraft and flown out to safety….The aircraft landed at Jasdan helipad where they were handed over to the medical team already waiting.”

The helicopter then went back to Nana Matra and rescued the pregnant woman who was bleeding heavily. The woman was flown across the river to an ambulance waiting to take her to a hospital.

So far, seven people have lost their lives to the flood since 20th July and 73 lives were lost since 1st June.
