In a shocking blow Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal failed to keep her place in the China Open Superseries Premier. Nehwal went up against Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi after continuous wins from the beginning of the tournament.
The Olympic Bronze Medalist started the game with an 11-9 lead against Yamaguchi. But her Japanese opponent bounced back defeating Nehwal in a shocking 18-21 and 11-21. The match lasted a mere 37 minutes and Saina lost the chance to move forward in the tournament.
P.V. Sindhu managed to stay afloat on Wednesday after a match with Sayaka Sato from Japan. Sindhu huffed and puffed and ended the game in 60 minutes with a 24-22 and 23-21 lead. Although, Sindhu was not in the best shape with her match scheduled at the end of the day. She managed to keep her cool and hold on to the chance towards the trophy.
Today evening, Sindhu will go up against Han Yue from China. This will be the first time Han Yue and Sindhu clash. Sindhu will have a tough fight against the ambitious Chinese teenager.
