On Saturday, Salil S. Parekh was announced as the new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Infosys. Earlier, Parekh was working as a member of the Group Executive Board at Capgemini. Today morning, the IT consultancy announced Parekh was parting ways from the board.
In August, Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka resigned leaving Infosys to find his replacement. After a long struggle, Parekh was appointed to take Sikka’s place. Parekh will take over as CEO and MD of Infosys on the 2nd of January 2018.
Vishal Sikka decided to quit the tech giant company after a prolonged public battle with the founders of Infosys.
Parekh’s appointment came with a lot of positive feedback from the Chairman of the Infosys Board, Nandan Nilekani. The Chairman said, “He has nearly three decades of global experience in the IT services industry. He has a strong track record of executing business turnarounds and managing very successful acquisitions. The Board believes that he is the right person to lead Infosys at this transformative time in our industry. The Board is also grateful to Pravin for his leadership during this period of transition.”
Infosys teamed up with Executive Search Firm Egon Zehnder to search for a capable replacement with the target of March 2018.
