Tamil Nadu Law Minister C.V. Shanmugam, discussed the former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s murder at a public rally.
The Minister belongs to the AIADMK. He accused O. Panneerselvam of murdering Amma to keep the possession of the seat of Chief Minister.
The Law Minister said O. Panneerselvam was made the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu when Amma passed away and even two months after her death, he was the CM. If there is any probe about the murder, Panneerselvam should be the first person to be investigated, said the Law Minister. “These suspicions are rising now,” he added.
The Law Minister’s allegations came at a time when the Panneerselvam faction has demanded an inquiry into the death of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.
The faction led by Edappadi Palaniswami said that a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the matter of Jayalalithaa’s death is pending before the Madras High Court. They claimed, if the High Court orders for a Central Bureau of Investigation probe, then the Government will do it. Further, they raised questioned as to why there wasn’t a probe conducted when Panneerselvam was the Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, On Friday, Panneerselvam met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu declared to the media they were discussing some pending demands of the State which include merger negotiations.
