Telangana is suffering from a horrid heat wave for the past few days and reports say it will persist for more days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD,) on the 15th of May, issued a notice to Telangana State, according to which, the temperature will continue to rise till the 18th of May.

Earlier this week, the IMD said, some regions of Telangana will experience a rise in temperature till the 12th of May. Now, they extended the heat wave duration in Telangana to the 18th of May.

According to weather reports, regions like Adilabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Warangal, Khammam, Nizamabad, Nalgonda, Siddipet and Karimnagar will experience 45 to 46 °C temperature.

On the 14th of May, Nizamabad witnessed the highest temperature of 43.4 °C, followed by Adilabad at 43.3 °C, Medak and Nalgonda at 43.2 °C, Ramagundam at 42.2 °C and Hyderabad at 40.3 °C.

According to sources, in the last 42 days, approximately 66 people died due to sunstroke, whereas 1,600 were admitted to different hospitals of Telangana. The Disaster Management Department of Telangana confirmed the death.

People are advised to avoid going out during the afternoon and stay indoors till the 18th of May.
