Hyderabad: On Wednesday, IT Minister, K.T. Rama Rao said the Telangana Government aims to get its own satellite in space to televise its content.

“Today, we are broadcasting two channels by using satellite technology. But, eventually, the goal is not today but that day will come sometime in the future. We should have our own special satellite in the orbit. Through that satellite, if necessary, the State Government would work actively (on) some 10 to 12 channels. Today, we see the developments in society. We see the impact of western culture. We can do many types of programs on behalf of the government,” he said.

At the launch of the T SAT network, Rama Rao was addressing the assembly which operated with the backing of the Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communication.

The network will broadcast 2 channels and the channel names are Vidya and Nipuna. The channels concentrates mainly on topics like agriculture, rural development, healthcare, distance learning and e governance.

The network will handle content which is used to be broadcast under ‘Mana TV’ in undivided Andhra Pradesh.
Rama Rao while speaking about the satellite, mentioned ISRO’s recent feat of launching a record of 104 satellites in a single mission.

Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Minister for Agriculture said, “Programmes in T SAT should have a mix of agricultural language with technology. These programs will help farmers harvest a good yield and also reduce their debt.”
