Today, the Winter Session of the Parliament will begin after a long delay due to the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections. Former PM Manmohan Singh called Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday to discuss the Winter Session. Venkaiah Naidu is the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. Manmohan Singh, on the other hand, is a Rajya Sabha member from Assam for the Congress.
The Winter Session will be held throughout the month of December and end on the 5th of January 2018. This session will have a total of 14 sittings in the Parliament.
The important issues that will be tabled for discussion are the Muslim Women’s Rights on Marriage Bill and the Legislation of Constitutional status of the Backward Class Commission.
There is also a likely possibility of heavy fireworks as the Congress questions the Modi led Government. The Lok Sabha will be adjourned on the first day to pay tribute to the sitting and former members who passed away at the end of the Monsoon Session.
