His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, on the 4th of April, congratulated PM Narendra Modi for being conferred with the “Order of the Zayed.”.
The highest honour a civilian can get in the U.A.E., the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India stated, the U.A.E., conferred the medal in recognition of Modi’s efforts toward improving the strategic partnerships between India and the U.A.E.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed, also the Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.,) Armed Forces, congratulated Modi on Twitter. With regard to this, he said, “We have historical and comprehensive strategic ties with India, reinforced by the pivotal role of my dear friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who gave these relations a big boost. In appreciation of his efforts, the U.A.E. President grants him the Zayed Medal.”
Modi, in turn, responded to the Sheikh’s tweet by saying, “Thank you, Your Highness Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. I accept this honour with utmost humility. Under your visionary leadership, our strategic ties have reached new heights. This friendship is contributing to the peace and prosperity of our people and planet.”
While the announcement about the Award was made on the 4th of April, there is no clear indication as to when the ceremony is going to be held.
When concerned members raised doubts about the trip being a violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC,) the officials said this trip is not going to be a violation of the MCC. The officials justified this by stating, the Prime Minister is exempted from the rules about making official trips while the MCC is in effect.
The U.A.E., and India are also in talks to lay the foundation for a Hindu temple on the 20th of April. The second Hindu temple to be present in the U.A.E., the building will be built by BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, an organisation based out of Gujarat.
In the past few years, the Crown Prince of U.A.E., and PM Modi were involved in multiple discussions, making sure their relationship is directed toward growth.
The medal conferring ceremony could be held as soon as within the next few weeks. An official announcement regarding the same is yet to be made.
