Early Monday morning, the destroyer USS John S. McCain, collided with an oil tanker near Singapore. The incident led to ten U.S. Navy soldiers reported missing and five injured.

In the past two months, this is the second collision of a Navy destroyer based at the 7th Fleet’s home port in Yokosuka Japan. In June, seven soldiers lost their lives when the USS Fitzgerald collided with a tanker in the South of Japan.

The Navy’s 7th Fleet released a statement that read, The guided missile destroyer and the Liberian flagged merchant vessel Alnic MC collided near the Strait of Malacca at 5:24 A.M., local time.”

It went on to say, “The extent of damage and personnel injuries are being determined.”

Adm. John Richardson addressed the issue, “Our first priority is determining the safety of the ship and crew.”

The Chief of Naval Operations wrote in his Tweet, “As more information is learned, we will share it.”

President Donald Trump gave his ‘valuable’ comment regarding the collision, “That’s too bad.”
