Sanjay Rout, the Spokesperson of the Shiv Sena Party, on the 6th of June, shared his views about the ongoing Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid issue.

Mr. Rout said, if the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will not fulfil its promise of constructing the Ram Temple, people will “beat them with shoes.”

During the Lok Sabha elections 2019, the BJP said, if the Party would come to power again, they will build the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

During the 2014 Lok Sabha elections also, the BJP promised to resolve the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmbhoomi dispute and said, they will construct the temple.

The Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi dispute is a long standing issue for a piece of land in Ayodhya. The Babri Masjid was broken down by Hindu extremists, who believed Ram was born at the exact same spot where the Masjid was built. Now, both Hindus and Muslims are trying to reclaim the same piece of land and construct temple or Masjid, respectively.

Sanjay Rout said, “In 2014, we promised construction of the Ram temple but we did not accomplish it. The concluded election was also fought in the name of Lord Ram. Before elections, we went to Ayodhya with party chief Uddhav Thackrey ji, we have committed ourselves to the construction of the temple and I feel this time around Ram temple’s construction will start. Because if we don’t, the country will stop trusting us and us with shoes in anger (sic.)”

The construction of the Ram Mandir seems to be a big issue for the BJP because a majority of votes came due to the promise of constructing the Ram Temple.

Though the Supreme Court (SC) is reviewing the matter, Rout is confident about the construction of the Ram Temple.

The reason behind Rout’s confidence is the majority of the Lok Sabha members in the Parliament are from the BJP, the NDA and the Shiv Sena.

The SC in its last hearing ordered the constituted panel of 3 members to start a mediation process and resolve the matter.

The panel of the 3 members submitted the confidential mediation process report on the 10th of May, following which the SC will review the matter and give a judgement.

Stay tuned for further updates.
