Yuvraj Singh Announces Retirement From International Cricket

Yuvraj Singh, a player of the Indian Cricket Team, on the 10th of June, announced his decision to retire from international cricket.

Yuvraj Singh bid goodbye to his 19 years’ career in international cricket after 400 matches. He announced his retirement from international cricket during a press conference in Mumbai.

Mr. Singh said, “It was a love-hate relationship with this game. I can’t explain what it really means to me. This game taught me to fight. I have failed more times than I succeeded and I will never give up.” He further said, “I was extremely lucky to play 400 games for India. I could have never imagined it when I first started playing cricket.”

Yuvraj Singh made his debut in international cricket with the International Council Cricket (ICC) KnockOut Trophy, hosted by Kenya, in the year 2000.

In the ICC KnockOut Trophy 2000, Singh was the opening batsman against Australia and scored 84 runs.

Starting his cricket career in 2000, Yuvraj continued to be one of the most famous and strongest players of the Indian Cricket Team. However, Yuvraj was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2011 and went to the United States of America (U.S.A.,) for chemotherapy.

In 2012, Yuvraj Singh came with after recovering and started his cricket career again. Between 2003 and 2017, Yuvraj Singh played a total of 40 Test matches, 304 One Day International (ODI) matches and 58 T20 matches. He was also a part of the Indian Premier League (IPL.)
