New Delhi: Bad news for bachelors,you might be distancing yourself from your favorite 2-minute Maggie Noodles in the near future. According to some reports, the brand was predicted to loose its license in India.
Going into the detail, some samples were collected in some parts of Uttar Pradesh and sent for testing purposes, the results showed high level of monosodium glutamate (MSG) and lead beyond permissible limit. Later The Lucknow Food Safety and Drug Administration has reportedly written to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) asking it to cancel the license for Maggi.
“We have tested Maggi samples at Kolkata’s referral laboratory. The test results show that there are added monosodium glutamate and excess of lead. We have ordered further sampling,” told FSDA Assistant Commissioner Vijay Bahadur Yadav.
Note: Monosodium glumate(MSG) is commonly used to enhance flavor of packed and processed food. Although a small quantity of MSG is believed to be safe, its long-time consumption can result in harmful side-effects.
According to the test results, Maggi showed 17 parts per million of lead. The permissible limit is a mere 0.01 parts per million lead. On the other hand, the manufacturer Nestle denied all the allegations saying that they don’t add MSG in their products.
