After conducting two successful vaccine dry runs, the Nation is all set to conduct another vaccine dry run.

The third dry run would be conducted nationwide on the 8th of January.

The decision was taken by the Union Government ahead of the roll out of the Coronavirus vaccine.

On the 6th of January, the Union Health Ministry announced they would soon roll out the COVID-19 vaccine.

The first nationwide dry run was conducted on the 2nd of January.

On the 2nd of January, Indian cities began mock drilling or dry run for the Novel COVID-19 vaccine.

All states and union territories (UTs) conducted the dry vaccine runs in at least 3 session sites, including areas with rough terrain and poor logistical support.

In a vaccine dry run, the entire process of transporting the vaccines from storage to the site, administering them to candidates and feeding data on the Co-WIN app is practised without a real vaccine. CoWIN (COVID-19 vaccine intelligence network) is a platform developed by the Central Government for the smooth and seamless facilitation of the entire vaccination process, right from who gets the vaccines to following up with every individual through any adverse events till the second dose of the vaccine is administered. The test link of CoWIN has been readied for the dry run.

Considering the current situation, the mock drill would make the post vaccine approval process easy without any hurdles/issues.

In regard to tomorrow’s dry run, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, the Union Health Minister is scheduled to conduct a meeting today, the 7th of January.

During the meeting with officials of states and union territories (UTs) Dr. Vardhan would lead on the conduct of the dry run.

However, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana would be exempted from the countrywide exercise. While Uttar Pradesh would conduct the mock drilling of the vaccine today, the 7th of January, Haryana conducted it on the 5th of January.

Meanwhile, the Central Government is planning to vaccinate nearly 30 crore people during the first phase of the drive.

The population of India is 133 crores.

Stay tuned for further updates.
