Officials are concerned over the rising number of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases increasing day by day. In the past 24 hours, India reported 96,982 new cases of the COVID-19 infection, taking the total number of cases to 12.68 millions.

In addition to the new cases, India reported 446 deaths and 50,143 recovered/discharged cases in the past 24 hours. The COVID-19 cases of India were updated through the official website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)

With this, India becomes the third nation with the highest number of COVID-19 cases. The first two nations are the United States of America with 30.7 million, followed by Brazil with 13 million cases.

Meanwhile, Dr. V.K. Paul, the Member of NITI Ayog, said, “The impact of the pandemic has increased in the country. Warnings were given that the situation should not be taken for granted. The situation of pandemic has worsened and the speed of increasing Covid-19 cases is higher than last time.” In addition, The Union Health Department Secretary Rajesh Bhushan also warned of the COVID-19 situation in Chhattisgarh. He said, “Chhattisgarh is a cause of concern for us. Despite being a small state, it reports 6% of total Covid cases and 3% of total deaths in the country. The condition of Chhattisgarh has deteriorated in the second wave of infections.”

In India, after Maharashtra, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Punjab are the worst COVID-19 hit nations, contributing 80 % of the total cases.

Highlighting the same Rajesh Bhushan said, “Of the top 10 districts having most of the active COVID-19 cases, seven districts are from Maharashtra, one from Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Delhi each.

Meanwhile, the Central Government urged people to cooperate and follow all the guidelines of COVID-19. The Union Government said the next 4 weeks are very crucial and people’s participation to control the second wave of COVID-19 is most needed. They also urged people above 45 years old to register themselves on CoWin Portal and get the COVID-19 vaccination.
