Another case/ first information report (FIR) has been filed against Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP.) 

On the 11th of May, the Arundelpet Police Station, Guntur, registered a case filed by Pachala Anil Kumar.   Mr. Kumar is an advocate and a resident of Guntur who alleged Chandrababu Naidu of creating panic and speaking about the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) second wave.  He also spoke about the N440K strain of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) found in Andhra Pradesh, which developed a fear in people.   He said, the N440K Coronavirus strain is prevalent and deadly as compared to the other strains. 

According to the FIR, Anil Kumar stated, “It is an irresponsible and erroneous statement about coronavirus which caused a great deal of agony and pain to the people.  The AP people are facing mental stress and the statements lead to more deaths.”

He said, statements of Chandrababu Naidu, “spreading canards and distorted versions” created panic among people, resulting in restrictions on the people of A.P., in other states. 

The Arundelpet Police Station booked Chandrababu Naidu and other TDP leaders under Sections 188.505(1)B0 (2) Section 54 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Disaster Management Act (DMA) 2005

This is not the first time, State Police registered a case against Chandrababu Naidu. 

On the 8th of May, Subbaiah, a lawyer of Kurnool, filed a similar FIR against Chandrababu Naidu.
