India Cases Surge Rapidly, Crosses 80k Single Day Cases

India’s Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases are on a massive surge with nearly 80,000 new cases. 

India with 897 new cases crossed the single day record of new COVID-19 cases. India now stands at the second position in terms of COVID-19 cases. Brazil leads the chart with 91,097 cases recorded in the last 24 hours. If the total deaths are considered, India is at the fourth position after the US, Brazil and Mexico. About 469 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total toll to 1,62,927.

In the past 24 hours, ndia recorded 89,129 new Novel Coronavirus. In the United States close to 77,718 new cases were reported.

The data of COVID-19 was confirmed by the Union Health Ministry. The data was updated on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)

Besides 89,000 new cases, India recorded 714 deaths and 44,202 recoveries.

With this, India has a total of 12,303,131 COVID-19 cases, of which 6,14,696 are active cases, 1,15,25,039 are recovered/discharged cases and 1,64,110 deceased cases.

In India, Maharashtra is the worst COVID-19 hit state with 43,183 new cases in the past 24 hours, accounting for 50 % of the daily surge. In addition, six states account for 83.16 % of the new deaths.

Meanwhile, five states account for over 77 % of active cases in India. Maharashtra, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Kerala and Punjab — cumulatively account for 77.91 % of the total active cases in the Country.

With this, the Nation has a recovery rate at 93.68 % and fatality rate at total of 50,356 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours.

Recently, NITI Aayog member V.K. Paul said that the current situation of the surge in coronavirus cases in the country is going from “bad to worse” and the trends show that the virus is still very active.
