On the 14th of October, India recorded 18,987 fresh cases of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.) Compared to the 13th of October, a decrease of 1,067 cases has been recorded in the active Covid caseload in the past 24 hours.
Besides 18,987 new cases, the nation recorded 246 fatalities. The new cases were confirmed by the Union Health Ministry on the morning of Thursday. According to the Union Ministry data, the total cases of the Wuhan virus reached 3,40,20,730, of the total 2,06,586 are active cases, 3,33,62,709 are recovered/discharged cases and 4,51,435 are deceased cases till date.
The cases were confirmed after conducting a total of 13,01,083 sample tests, taking the number of COVID-19 tests to 58,76,64,525 in India.
The updated figures of the Wuhan virus are available on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)
In addition, the national recovery rate of the Wuhan virus improved to 98.07 %, fatality rate is at 1.33 % and active cases of COVID-19 is at 1.46 %
The major cases of the Wuhan virus are being reported from Southern India, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Besides the southern region, Maharashtra is also having the maximum number of active cases. Of the 18,987 cases, Kerala recorded 11,079 new cases, Tamil Nadu added 1,280 cases, and Maharashtra reported 2,219 Covid cases.
Currently, nine states have more than 5,000 active cases. These include Andhra Pradesh (6,615,) Karnataka (9,650,) Kerala (98,223,) Maharashtra (33,151,) Mizoram (14,036,) Tamil Nadu (15,650) and West Bengal (7,657.)
The five states having the highest number of active COVID-19 ases are: Kerala (97, 694,) Maharashtra (29,555,) Tamil Nadu (15,650,) Karnataka (9, 621) and Andhra Pradesh (6, 615.)
On the other hand, Over 96 crore Covid vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
