India Recorded 63,371 New COVID-19 Cases, Tally Crosses 7.37 Millions

On the 16th of October, India’s Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases crossed 7.37 million or 73 lakhs cases. 

In the past 24 hours, the Country recorded 63,371 new cases of COVID-19 and 895 deceased cases.

With this, the Novel Coronavirus caseload reached 73,70,468 in India. Of the total cases, 1,12,161 are deceased, 8,04,528 are active cases and 64,53,779 are recovered/discharged cases.

This is the 10th consecutive day, when India reported the single day spike of COVID-19 infection below 70,000.

The update regarding the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 was given by the Union Health Ministry.

The updated data is available on the official website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)

The Health Ministry said, “India continues to have one of the lowest COVID-19 deaths per million population globally, currently pegged at 80.”

India’s COVID-19 tally crossed the 2 million mark on the 7th of August, 3 million on the 23rd of August, 4 millions on the 5th of September, 5 millions on the 16th of September, 6 millions on the 28th of September and 7 millions mark on the 11th of October.

India has the second highest number of COVID-19 cases, and the first is the United States of America (U.S.A.)

Meanwhile, according to the Indian Council Medical Research (ICMR,) in the past 24 hours, India conducted a total of 10,28,622 tests, taking the cumulative total to 9,22,54,927 sample tests till date.

In addition, the recovery rate of India in terms of COVID-19 stands at 87.59 %.
