India Records Biggest Single Day Spike Of COVID-19 Cases, Total At 23,29,639

On the 12th of August, India witnessed a biggest spike in the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases.

Despite having an improved recovery rate of nearly 69%, everyday spike is increasing rapidly. 

In the past 24 hours, India recorded 60,963 cases of the Novel Coronavirus.

On the other hand, 834 death cases were recorded in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 46,091.

With these updates, India has 23,29,639 positive cases, of which 6,43,948 are active cases, 16,39,600 recovered/ discharged cases and 46,091 deceased till the 12th of August. 

The difference between the active COVID-19 cases and recovered cases are more than 9 lakhs. 

While Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka continue to be top four worst COVID-19 hit Indian states, Delhi, has achieved a recovery rate of more than 90%.

In the past 24 hours, the National Capital with approximately 1,200 new COVID-19 with 10,686 active cases. 

The recovered cases in Delhi is 1,32,384.

In regard to the increasing cases, the Central Government asked 10 states to increase testing for COVID-19. 

An expert committee is scheduled to meet on the 12th of August. 

The committee would meet under the chairmanship Dr. V.K. Paul, a member of NITI Aayog.

During the meeting, the panel would discuss the logistics and ethical aspects of the potential candidate vaccine for COVID-19.
