On the 27th of January, India reported 12,689 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
In addition to the new cases, the Nation reported 13,320 discharges and 137 deaths in the last 24 hours.
The Union Health Ministry confirmed the figures of the COVID-19 infection in the past 24 hours.
The updated data is available on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)
According to the MoHFW official website, India has 1,06,89,527 positive COVID-19 cases. Of the total, 1,76,498 are active cases, 1,03,59,305 total discharged cases and 1,53,724 deaths.
In addition, the Indian Council of Medical Research informed, “A total of 19,36,13,120 samples were tested for COVID-19 up to January 26. Of these, 5,50,426 samples were tested yesterday (the 26th of January.)”
Meanwhile, under the ongoing vaccination drive of the Novel Coronavirus, nearly 20.29 lakh healthcare workers were vaccinated till the 26th of January.
A total of 20,29,424 beneficiaries were vaccinated through 36,572 sessions.
The nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive started from the 16th of January.
The two India made and Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) approved vaccinations (COVAXIN and Covisheild) are being administered to people. While COVAXIN is manufactured by the Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech International Private Limited, Covisheild is manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII.)
The drive would continue in a phased manner. In the first phase, all health workers would take the vaccination.
