India on the 8th of January, recorded 18,139 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
According to the Union Health Ministry data, the Nation in the past 24 hours reported 18,139 new cases, 20,539 recovered/discharged cases and 234 deaths.
According to the updated data available on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW,) India has 10,413,417 positive cases, of which 2,25,449 are active cases, 1,00,37,398 are recovered/discharged cases and 1,50,570 deceased.
In addition, As many as 17,93,36,364 samples have been tested for Covid-19 up to January 6 including 9,35,369 samples tested on Thursday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) informed.
Meanwhile, on the 8th of January, the Central Government is holding a vaccine dry run across the Nation.
Today’s vaccine dry run is being conducted for the 2nd time. The first such nationwide dry run was held on the 2nd of January.
The second nationwide dry run will take place in 33 states and Union Territories (UTs) except Haryana and Punjab, which conducted vaccine dry runs on the 7th and 5th of January, respectively.
In regard to the nationwide dry run, Dr. Harsh Vardhan interacted with the ministers and principal secretaries/additional chief secretaries of the states/UTs and reviewed the preparedness for today’s dry run.
