India Reports 49,881 New Cases Of COVID-19, Recovery Rate Over 90%

On the 29th of October, India recorded 49,881 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

In addition the Nation recorded 517 deaths, taking the cumulative total to 1,20,527.

While updates regarding COVID-19 were confirmed by the Union Health Ministry, the data is available on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)

According to the updated data, India has 8,040,203 positive cases, of which 6,03,687 are active cases, 7,315,989 recovered/discharged cases and 120,527 deaths.

Currently the total active cases in the country stands at 7.65%, recovery is over 90 % and mortality rate is 1.50 %.

Dr. Harsh Vardhan, the Union Health Minister, said,”The coming long festive season pose a significant risk that may threaten the improvements made against COVID-19 so far. We should all be vigilant for the next three months. Following simple COVID-19 appropriate behaviour will be effective in cutting transmission of coronavirus. The prime minister’s message of wearing a mask/face cover, maintaining a physical distance and frequent handwashing should reach the last citizen(sic.)”

Mr. Vardhan said the country has seen a significant improvement in the COVID-19 parameters.

On the other hand, speaking about the Coronavirus vaccine, the Indian Council Medical Research (ICMR) said the Hyderabad based pharma company, Bharat Biotech International Limited is conducting trials.

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories (DRL) said it had engaged with partners in India to make the Russian vaccine candidate Sputnik V and was also open to partnering with other global and Indian firms to distribute vaccines or COVID-19 therapies.

Meanwhile, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) recently extended the Unlock 5.0., till the 30th of November.

Under the 5th phase of the Unlock India, swimming pools, malls, restaurants, cinema halls, markets, business exhibitions, railways, airways, parks, gyms, religious places and other public places are operational.
