India Reports 65,000 Plus New COVID-19 Cases, Tests Nearly 8 Lakh Samples

On the 14th of August, India witnessed a biggest spike in the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases.

With the highest spike of 64,533 new cases and 1,007 fatalities, India became the second COVID-19 worst hit nation.

In terms of total cases, India is on the third position after the United States of America (U.S.A.,) and Brazil. However, in terms of active cases, India crossed Brazil and became the second nation with the highest number of active COVID-19 cases.

In Brazil, active cases stand at 5,54,356 and active cases in India stand at 6,53,622.

Despite having an improved recovery rate of nearly 70.70 % the everyday spike is increasing rapidly.

One of the major reasons behind rapid increase is the high number of the Novel Coronavirus infection testing.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in the past 24 hours, India conducted nearly 8 lakh samples.

Between the 13th and 14th of August, India tested 8,48,728 samples. With this till date India conducted 2.7 crore test for COVID-19 infection.

With these updates, India has 24,61,190 positive cases, of which 6,61,595 are active cases, 17,51,555 recovered/ discharged cases and 48,040 deceased till the 14th of August.

The difference between the active COVID-19 cases and recovered cases are more than 9 lakhs.

While Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka continue to be the top four worst COVID-19 hit Indian states, Delhi, has achieved a recovery rate of more than 90%. The recovered cases in Delhi is 1,34,318 till the 14th of August and active cases are 10,975.

In regard to the increasing cases, the Central Government asked 10 states to increase testing for COVID-19.

In addition, globally the Novel Coronavirus cases crossed 21 million cases.

Globally, 21,068,666 people are infected by the Novel Coronavirus and 7,57,444 died till date.
