India Reports Below 45,000 New Cases Of COVID-19, Recovery At 90%

On the 28th of October, India reported 43,893 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

This is the third consecutive day, India reported below 50,000 new cases in the past 2.5 months. While the cases are decreasing with only 8 % of active cases, the recovery rate is increasing with over 90 %. The fatality rate is also below 2%, which is at 1.50 %.

Since July, the everyday spike of COVID-19 cases were between 70,000 to 1,00,000.

In addition, 58,439 people recovered/discharged and 508 new deaths were reported in the past 24 hours.

The updated figure of the COVID-19 was confirmed by the Union Health Ministry on the 28th of October.

The updated data is available on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)

According to the MoHFW website, India has 7,990,332 positive cases, of which 72,59,509 are recovered/discharged cases, 6,10,803 are active cases and 1,20,010 deceased.

The new updates came a day after the country saw 36,370 infections, lowest single-day tally since the 18th of July.

On the other hand, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) confirmed 10,66,786 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 10,54,87,680.

Meanwhile, on the 27th of October, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA,) extended the Unlock 5.0., till the 30th of November.

Issued on the 30th of September, the 5th phase of unlocking economy activities in India would remain same till the 30th of November with no additional reopening.

The guidelines had allowed reopening of cinema halls, multiplexes, swimming pools for sports training, entertainment parks etc under Unlock 5.
